How much can I customize my Christmas Tree Drum?
We will customize the colors and sizes of the drum along with details such as the knobs and rope. For example, you can select a paint for the main drum color from Home Depot, Lowe’s, Sherwin Williams, etc. and we’ll acquire the paint and paint your drum that color. For example, you can select knobs from Amazon.com or other online stores and we’ll acquire the knobs and use them for your drum. You can also just give us an idea and we’ll come up with schemes that will make your idea come to life; of course, we’ll get your approval on our decisions. Customizing drums for our customers is the fun part of Christmas Tree Drums for us so please don’t ever hesitate to ask about your customization ideas. With that ‘said’, there is a limit to everything. For example, the largest drum we can ship without occurring “Over Maximum Limits” charges is about 30 inches in diameter. the common drum is a 24″ diameter drum, which has been engineered to accommodate most all Christmas tree stands and accommodate common items that might be used to elevate a tree such as a Rubbermaid storage container or two cinder blocks. Also, for example, if you select knobs for your drum that costs $300, then we will have to pass that cost onto you; specifically concerning knob costs, the threshold is about $8 a knob, which totals $112 just for the knobs on a drum. Finally, please challenge us to engineer a Christmas Tree Drum for your desires; if you desire to “Super Customize” a drum, we will be happy to do some of the engineering and then provide you a quote before you commit.
How much is a Christmas Tree Drum?
$530 for 2019. The $530 includes customization and shipping. A Christmas Tree Drum is made of very fine materials that typically include polished brass knobs, red oak wood, hardboard, cotton rope, high grade stainless steel fasteners, rare earth magnets, premium latex paints, grade A trimming along with industrial-grade adhesives and striping. As a simple reference, if someone, who already has a wood shop, is going to make a single drum, the cost of the specialty forms, mandrels, clamps, and fixtures would exceed $1,000 and the cost of the materials would exceed $400; BUT it is lots of fun and very satisfying to make one in your wood shop.
For “super-customization” (HUGE drum, very costly knobs, 14K gold rope, etc.) or “extra-ordinary-shipping” (The North Pole, The Moon, Mars, etc.), we will communicate these extra costs to you during the customization process, which is before you have to commit to buying the Christmas Tree Drum.
What is the return policy?
118% Satisfaction Guaranteed! Just email us before the end of the year that you purchased your drum with your drum number (e.g. 2006-9), which can be found by the maker’s mark and and we’ll refund your money quickly. Please explain to us why you are dissatisfied because depending on the circumstances, we may have you return the drum, give it to a charity, or just have you dispose of it. Also, we would really appreciate for you to share your “refund” experience on Facebook at the ‘ChristmasTreeDrum’ page. We understand that some people are not going to be satisfied with their drum for one reason or another but we believe that every customer can have a good experience in the end if their refund is prompt after deciding they are not satisfied.
What is the most common size of a drum?
24″ in diameter and 18″ tall. This most common drum, also referred to as the 24″ drum, was engineered with many things in mind including
- Proportion of “width” to height selected to be aesthetically pleasing
- Sized for rooms with 10 ft. or greater ceilings
- Wrap around most all Christmas tree stands including “opening up” to at least 24″ wide
- Circumscribe common items that might be used to elevate a Christmas tree
- Circumscribe the 24″ circle-shaped wood that can be obtained at Home Depot, Lowe’s, & most lumber stores.

- Sturdy enough to use as a base for a children’s table or coffee table
- Ship without occurring “Over Maximum Limits” charges
- Simple means to close the drum permanently
How much does a Christmas Tree Drum weigh?
The 24″ diameter Christmas Tree Drum, the most common sized drum, weighs about 10 lbs.
Is the Christmas Tree Drum made of wood?
Yes. The drums are made from hardboard and red oak woods. When you “knock” on the side of a drum, it has a very nice wood sound. Red oak is a hard wood that has been used in fine furniture for centuries. Hardboard wood is an engineered wood created by reducing wood to its basic fibers then putting the wood back together with the fibers rearranged and compacted, which results in a very hard board with special properties that are especially good for forming the wood. For engineered wood, hardboard is unique in that the wood is almost all natural wood because the wood’s natural fibers, cellulose & lignin, are reconstituted to make the wood; the cellulose provides strength and the lignin bonds the fibers together.
How long will it take to make my Christmas Tree Drum?
For 2019, you will receive your Christmas Tree Drum before Thanksgiving, which is November 24th; we will not take any orders that we can not deliver before Thanksgiving. The manufacturing of the drum takes between two to three weeks so we generally work rapidly on defining your customization and requirements. There are many coats of paint that require large amounts of drying time to ensure the paint is ready for the flexing that it will undergo. We strongly desire that the paint on your drum has totally cured before shipping or delivering your drum.
What is the best way for me to raise my Christmas tree off the floor?
Our favorite way to raise a tree is to place something solid and sturdy on the floor and put a 24″ wood circle on top. For example, you can use the same container that you store your lights to use as a base with wood on top.
The wood can be purchased at Home Depot (item # 682527 – http://www.homedepot.com/p/Edge-Glued-Round-Common-1-1-31-in-x-23-3-4-in-Actual-1-0-in-x-23-75-in-682527/202017012), Lowe’s (item # 228499 – https://www.lowes.com/pd/Radius-Edge-Spruce-Pine-Fir-Board/1000095392), or other hardware stores. Solid and sturdy items range from stacked wood, sturdy organizers, foot stools, bricks, cinder blocks, etc. If you would have a hard time acquiring a round piece of wood, we would be happy to ship one for free with your drum; you can also probably convince us to put some 2×4 legs on the wood to raise your tree to the perfect height … we LOVE pleasing our customers … you just have to ask 🙂
Can I use my Christmas Tree Drum outdoors?
Your Christmas Tree Drum is weather tolerant, not weather proof. Your drum will be fine on a porch where it does not experience much rain & snow, or be outside for a day and get rained upon, but it will not be okay if it sits in a snow covered yard for a season with your yard art. With that written, Lucien’s drum, which he continues to use, started as a community cul-de-sac drum about a decade ago and has seen lots of rain and weather [no snow … Lucien lives in Houston :-)], so your drum will probably take more than “sitting on the porch”, but at some point, your drum will soak up the water and damage the wood.
